Specialists close to the project
The sustainability team works directly with architects, engineers, construction designers and project management.

At KT Erhvervsbyg, our sustainability specialists work closely with other disciplines throughout the construction process. This means questions about carbon impact, materials, documentation and certification can be addressed while the building is being designed, calculated and developed.

Our strengths
Our in-house team of permanent specialists makes requirements, opportunities and implications clear early in the process.

The first model is used to assess the carbon impact, so any necessary adjustments can be made in time.

When a project requires certification, our sustainability specialists turn the requirements into specific tasks for design, construction and documentation.

Collaboration across disciplines
At KT Erhvervsbyg, sustainability specialists work alongside architects, engineers, construction designers and project management. This allows climate, materials, documentation and certification to be considered as the building solutions are developed.
When a material changes, a structure is adjusted or new requirements are introduced, the implications can therefore be assessed while there is still time to respond.
In this way, sustainability management becomes part of the design and construction process – rather than a check introduced after the solutions have already been decided.
A shared responsibility
See how sustainability management follows the project from its initial ambitions through to final documentation.
We establish what the law requires and what the client’s ambitions are for climate impact, materials or certification.
Using the first models, we assess the carbon impact and identify the areas likely to have the greatest significance.
When structures, building services and materials are selected or changed, we assess the implications and documentation requirements.
If, for example, a project is to be certified under DGNB, BREEAM or the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, we allocate and track the requirements and documentation throughout the project.
Consumption, transport, materials, waste and other relevant documentation are monitored during construction.
As handover approaches, we ensure that calculations, documentation and any certification requirements are brought together.
Life cycle assessment
As soon as the first model is ready, we can check whether the building meets the applicable limit. If the calculation shows that changes are needed, they can be addressed while the project can still be adjusted.
The early model provides an initial picture of the carbon impact.
Materials and solutions can be adjusted before they are finalised.
New elements are continually assessed against the LCA calculation.

On the construction site
As the project moves from model to construction site, sustainability management remains closely involved in the work. This includes monitoring actual consumption, transport, materials and waste on site.
We collect the necessary documentation as work progresses and monitor developments, so any challenges can be addressed before the building is complete.
Monitoring electricity, heating and fuel consumption on the construction site.
Focus on transport to, from and within the site.
Attention to material consumption and reducing waste.
Planning and ongoing monitoring of waste sorting.
Documented efforts
We help establish the level of ambition, requirements and documentation, and integrate the chosen certification scheme into project decisions from the early stages through to handover. With licensed professionals trained in both DGNB and BREEAM, we can manage the entire certification process in-house, so the client only needs to deal with colleagues at KT Erhvervsbyg.
We use DGNB as a framework for planning, coordinating and documenting sustainability across the construction project.

Get concise answers about LCA, certification and sustainability in the construction process.
LCA is a life cycle assessment of a building’s overall carbon impact throughout its lifetime – from material production to demolition. We begin screening with the first models so necessary adjustments can be identified early.
From 2025, stricter LCA limits apply to new buildings in Denmark. We keep track of the requirements and advise on how to meet them while considering function and design.
Costs depend on the project and its level of ambition. When LCA and certification expertise is involved from the first sketch, solutions can be incorporated into the project and budget rather than added as late upgrades.
BREEAM and DGNB are sustainable building certification schemes with different origins and assessment methods. We have expertise in both and help select a suitable scheme.
We monitor electricity and diesel consumption, transport, material waste and waste sorting, among other things. Ongoing monitoring allows us to act before the carbon accounts are finalised.
Yes. If your requirements go beyond the legal minimum, we help explore solutions that match your ambitions for materials, energy consumption or certification, for example.
An EPD is an environmental product declaration that documents a material’s environmental impact. Up-to-date EPDs provide an important basis for assessing materials in an LCA calculation.
Yes. We offer expertise in both building and operational certification and advise on which approach makes sense for the building.
